FACTS ON THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF TULSA
Since opening the door in October 1991, the Tulsa Ronald McDonald House has strived to attain its mission of being a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children being treated in Tulsa hospitals. In the past 19 years, the Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa has served more than 18,000 family members. The House is routinely full and the waiting list continues to grow.
The Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa has been expanding their mission in the Tulsa Community with the debut of a Ronald McDonald Family Room. The first Family Room opened in November 2007 at OSU Medical Center, formerly Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms are “havens within the hospital.” They provide a place for families to relax, refresh, grab a snack, do some laundry, take a shower or a nap and stay in constant contact with extended family via e-mail all while being just steps away from their sick child’s bedside.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room helps make the team of parents, physicians and healthcare professionals more effective. Children are comforted knowing that their family is close by, helping them feel more secure and aiding in their recovery.
